A hotel is more than rooms, breakfast and a place to leave your skis.

For us, it is the people who make the difference.

We are a small team at the Arlen Lodge in St. Anton am Arlberg, and we like things to feel personal. We get to know our guests, remember the little things and are always happy to help when you need us – whether that means finding the right hiking route, recommending a favourite ski run, reserving a table or simply making sure you have everything you need for the day ahead.

Many of us spend our own free time in these mountains. We ski, hike, bike and explore the Arlberg ourselves, so when we give you a recommendation, it is usually because we genuinely know and like the place.

At the same time, we understand that a good holiday also means being left in peace.

There is no pressure to join in, no need to be entertained and no complicated hotel routine. Come and go as you please. Head into the mountains, take your time over breakfast, relax in the Arlen Spa or simply find a quiet corner and do absolutely nothing.

We are here when you need us – and happy to give you space when you don't.

That, for us, is what personal hospitality should feel like.

Welcome to the Arlen Lodge!

Dear Arlen Lodge Guest,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us.

We are a small, family-run hotel, and every guest who walks through our doors becomes part of the story of this house. So before your holiday begins, I would like to tell you a little about ours.

I first came to St. Anton am Arlberg in 1989, during my first college spring break. I remember feeling almost immediately that there was something special about this place — somehow, even then, it felt like somewhere I could call home.

Years later, I returned for the 1998/99 winter season. In February 1999, the avalanche disaster in nearby Galtür affected the entire region deeply. What stayed with me was not only the tragedy itself, but the way the people of St. Anton and the surrounding communities came together and supported one another during such a difficult time.

That sense of community, strength and genuine care for one another confirmed something I had felt years earlier:

this was where I belonged.

After briefly returning to the USA to help with my family’s business, I came back to St. Anton in 2007 with my late husband, Theodor Falch. Together we made our life here, raised our two sons and built a family surrounded by the mountains that had become such an important part of our lives.

In 2018, we bought what is now the Arlen Lodge.

We never wanted the Arlen Lodge to feel like a big, anonymous hotel. We wanted to create a place where people could come back from the mountains, take off their boots, relax and feel genuinely welcome.

Sadly, Theo passed away in January 2020. His spirit, however, is still very much part of this house and of the way we look after our guests.

Today, our sons have grown up with the same love of mountain life — skiing, snowboarding, hiking, trail running and mountain biking whenever they get the chance. And for all of us, the mountains are not simply where we live. They are part of who we are.

We live here, we raise our family here, and we spend our own free time in these mountains. So the recommendations we give our guests are not taken from a brochure — they are the places, trails, ski runs and experiences we would choose ourselves.

With my own background as a ski instructor and hiking guide, I am always happy to share the places we genuinely love — a favourite ski run, a beautiful summer hike, somewhere for lunch, or perhaps a quieter corner of the Arlberg that you might otherwise miss.

At the Arlen Lodge, we like to keep things personal.

Your day might begin with a long breakfast before heading into the mountains and end with tired legs, a visit to the Arlen Spa and a quiet drink back at the hotel. In between, we are here to help with the little things that can make a holiday better — choosing the right ski run, finding a hike that suits the weather, reserving a table, or simply pointing you towards one of our favourite places.

And because we are a small hotel, we have the time to get to know our guests.

We hope you will never feel like a room number here.

Our team feels much the same. Many of us are mountain lovers ourselves, and we are always happy to help you make the most of your stay.

So whether you are here for powder days, long summer hikes, a few quiet days away, or simply some fresh mountain air, we hope the Arlen Lodge becomes the kind of place you look forward to coming back to at the end of the day — and perhaps, one day, coming back to again.

As Theo always used to say:

"You're on mountain time now."
